Grounding Practices for Seasonal Shifts and Well-Being

Supporting your well-being during times of transition.

These invitations are offered to nurture and strengthen. Feel free to use and adapt them to your rhythm and inner guidance.

Navigating endings, such as the end of summer and onset of autumn can be difficult. In addition, the daily challenges of everyday living may feel daunting, notwithstanding the seemingly constant negativity and fear of the mainstream press. It is easy to become distracted by news, events and narratives that threaten to keep us in a perpetual state of confusion and stress.

Finding a balance of the inner and outer world is important. Carving out quiet time to replenish the wellspring within needs to be a priority if we want to thrive rather than survive. Nurturing a personal relationship with our Self is essential if we want to enjoy relationships with healthy boundaries. Your energy, your focus, your vibrational reality is hugely important. We live in a vibrational universe and the frequencies you transmit(like a radio mast) help to create reality as we know it on both a collective as well as individual level.

Yes, there is healing work to do. There may be grief or trauma that needs our compassion and attention. It’s important not to bypass the healing journey in the hope that the light will lead the way. The light will lead the way, but we must also pay attention to the wounded self, to the clearing and releasing that needs to take place in order to move forward in life with more trust, energy and peace.

Stay focused – don’t give your power away!

As we move through these times, our connection with the Earth and our inner light offers us more than a way forward. They become an anchor and a sanctuary as we navigate the shifting sands of life. We are living in times of profound transformation and as we enter eclipse season and move towards September’s powerful Autumn Equinox, now more than ever, we need to turn inward, to experience balance, the balance that comes with the Equinox, the balance that comes with living an authentic life. Of being the unique soul and light, that I believe, each one of us, truly is.

A guiding light

You are way more powerful and discerning than you think!

You hold a deep wisdom and capacity to love and be loved, to heal and be healed.

It is time to let go of limiting beliefs about yourself, to release any and all blocks that are holding you back from stepping into the real you, the creative, inspirational, vibrant, amazing you!

It takes practice

How do you climb a mountain? One step at a time.

Discovering and deepening your connection with your inner light and the consciousness of Mother Earth may take practice. For myself a daily practice over the last few years has been essential. This commitment leads to a meaningful connection with your Higher Self, your Soul Self, your Heart (there are so many ways to describe this deeply personal sacred Self, the important thing is to connect and name as feels true for you).

  • Commit to a daily digital-free window to deepen your disconnection from the noise and distractions.
  • Delete an app, or commit to screen-free morning for 1-3 days, a week... a time span that is achievable and suits you.
  • Release the heaviness of the world and reconnect with the quiet wisdom of the earth.
  • Deepen your healing journey. Release toxicity from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body.
  • Flagging energy levels?  Propel your motivation with a sound bath, retreat or some time away from the noise and distractions. Barefoot walking, deep listening, lying under a tree, or quietly observing nature regularly helps to ground and tune you into the healing energy of nature.

Prepare Your Space

  • Turn off your phone. Put it away. Let yourself truly disconnect.
  • Ideally, do this ritual outside: in a garden, a park, by a tree, on the earth - wherever calls you. If not, bring some natural elements into your space, stones, leaves, water, flowers.
  • Light a candle or incense to mark this as sacred time. Let the flame be a symbol of the inner light you are returning to.

Opening Your Ritual Space

Using sound is a beautiful way to open sacred space. Whether it is the sound of your voice or a drum beat, let yourself open up to the magic and aliveness of the earth with a deep listening practice.

Setting a clear intention at the beginning can help to focus the mind.

"I give myself permission to let go of any fear, anxiety and stress. I return to stillness. I return to my heart. I return to me.

In this moment, I silence the noise of the world. I release the weight that is not mine. Help me feel the natural rhythm of the Earth, The truth in my breath. The peace in my body. The love in my heart.”‍

Breathing:

  • As you enter a state of increasing presence, focus on your breathing – let your breath fan your inner flame and become mindful of the life force moving through your body. Consciously release tension, blocks and any fear through the soles of your feet. Let your breathing soothe your nervous system, and calm your mind.

Nature Connection + Grounding Meditation

  • Sit or lie down with your body in contact with the earth, (or floor if indoors).
  • Visualise roots growing from your body into the earth, grounding you.
  • Imagine all fear, negativity, and anxiety flowing down into the soil, to be composted by Mother Earth.
  • With each inhale, draw in peace and harmony.
  • With each exhale, release tension, stress and worry.
  • Spend 10–20 minutes in silence just breathing and listening to nature around you, while practicing the visualisation above.

Journaling or Reflection Prompts

Here are some questions to help you go a bit deeper. Use these as gentle invitations, not requirements. Reflect on the questions and see what answers come bubbling up from your unconscious.

  • What fear or heaviness am I carrying that’s not mine?
  • What part of me is asking for gentleness right now?
  • What can I unplug from, in order to return to peace?
  • How can I listen more to the voice of nature, and less to the noise of the world?

Releasing fear

  • Write a fear or heavy thought on a piece of paper.
  • Fold it, hold it to your heart, imagining that fear leaving your body and going into the soil or ground beneath you.
  • Then bury the piece of paper in the soil or burn it safely, offering it back to the earth.
  • Say: “This is no longer mine to carry. I let it go.”
  • If you’re outside, offer water or some grains of barley to the earth in gratitude.

Cultivating your connection with your Heart/Soul and/or Higher Self is a beautiful practice.

Look forward to this time of deepening peace.

Relish the expansive healing and heart-opening that comes from loving and taking care of your true self every day.

Enjoy the magic that unfolds as your intuitive Self guides you and supports you in a changing and confusing world.

Love those parts of you that need to express grief, fear or anger - witness them. Be gentle and kind.

Believe in the wonder of who you are.

We can change the world but first we need to be the change we want to see in the world.
